National Forest Restoration Programme

Reforestation

The National Forest Restoration Programme (PNRF)

It seeks to increase forest cover in watersheds in degraded or deforested areas of the country. It also proposes a system of follow-up, maintenance and monitoring of field actions to ensure the success and quality of reforestation by any interested actor. With this, forestry statistics will be improved, national and international indicators will be met through reforestation activities, forest and riverbank restoration, assisted natural regeneration and agroforestry and silvopastoral systems.

PNRF Framework

The National Forest Restoration Programme (PNRF) is framed within the objectives of the Forestry Law 1 (1994), the forestry policy, the reforestation modalities of the Forestry Incentives Law 69, the Forestry Strategy, the National Forestry Development Plan and the Alliance for a Million Hectares. The Forestry Directorate is currently developing the Forestry Master Plan, which proposes a mission and vision that are also shared in this Programme.

Concrete actions

The PNRF will be the first concrete field action to initiate in an organised manner the great challenge posed by the MLA, taking into account degraded watersheds and vulnerable populations. The experiences generated in the implementation of the PNRF will be the basis for cementing the success of the MLA in the medium and long term.
