RECRUITMENT OF A DIRECTOR OF INSTITUTIONAL DEVELOPMENT AND COMMUNICATIONS

Background

The National Association for the Conservation of Nature is a private, non-profit organisation whose mission is to safeguard the biodiversity and natural resources of Panama for the benefit of present and future generations. Within its organisational structure there are four (4) Directorates: Urban Sustainability and Education, 2. Conservation and Science, 3. Administration and Finance, and 4.

 

The Development Directorate Institutional and Communications (ICD) manages fundraising, donor relations and oversees institutional and promotional communication. It works closely with the Executive Director, the directors of the other areas of ANCON, and the Board of Trustees.

The Director of Institutional Development and Communications is responsible for the short and medium term development and implementation of the Association's strategic funding plans, as well as ANCON's communications and advocacy.

The Director of DIC reports to the Executive Director (ED).

 

General Objectives

Design and implement the annual fundraising strategy, with support from the ED, based on the annual revenue budget, contributing to the financial sustainability of the organisation.

Together with advisors and suitable allies, define the annual communications plan and execute the institutional and promotional campaigns that will position ANCON, at a national level, as a leading association in environmental issues.

 

Specific objectives

1. Design the annual fundraising plan, identifying projects, campaigns, events and other activities that can be converted into a source of income.

2. Establish KPIs linked to fundraising, positioning and institutional strengthening.

3. Generate an annual pipeline of partnerships with companies, multilaterals and individual donors, with strategies differentiated by type of actor.

4. Work in coordination with the other directorates of the organisation to include their projects and activities in the fundraising plan.

5. Ensuring the achievement of goals monthly of the organisation's fundraising.

6. Lead the development of institutional and promotional campaigns, to position the organisation's projects and initiatives.

7. With the guidance of communications partners, manage the creation and execution of communications campaigns.

8. Oversee the quality and flow of information about ANCON and its activities.generated by the communications team

 

Description of activities

-      Design and implement institutional relationship strategies, including stakeholder mapping, influencing strategies and public-private partnerships.

-      Monitor their implementation and evaluate the social and financial return of each partnership established.

-      Design, implement and successfully execute fundraising and outreach strategy and plans

-      Direct and supervise the relationship plans, as well as their follow-up., for the donor acquisition and the retention of the current.

-      Update and expand  the donor databaseon a continuous basis.

-      Meeting collection targets monthly and annual targets set.

-      Support weekly meetings collection and communications.

-      Develop a quarterly work plan with clear and measurable goals.

-      Manage, monitor and comply with the department's annual budget.

-    Conducting special fundraising events, including events/campaigns/activities related to existing programmes

-      Disseminate weekly content on activities, or general content on environmental issues, on social networks.

-      Maintain direct relations with journalists and media executives.

-      Prepare presentations and audiovisual materials as marketing and dissemination tools for the organisation.

-  Lead institutional marketing with a strategic approach, including digital campaigns, traditional media activations and partnerships with key influencers or media. Drive an impact narrative that strengthens ANCON's reputation and converts audiences into allies.

-   Develop and implement a digital fundraising strategy using segmented campaigns, automated CRM, conversion funnels and evidence-based storytelling. Monitor performance through a dashboard of key indicators.

-      Supervision of the creation and delivery of a annual report of the management carried out.

-      Leading and motivating aThe team of professionals under his or her responsibility, and to develop their competencies.

-   Work closely with the other directorates of the organisation to generate synergies and new fundraising opportunities..

-   Work in close cooperation with the Executive Directoro y the members of the Board of Trustees to build, extend and reinforce donor corporate and individual, high profile

-     Convene and hold regular meetings with the Development Committee to follow up on the monthly objectives set for the DIC.

Requirements

-      At least three (3) years of experience in sales. and/or marketing of products or serviceswith a track record of success in aCustomer care and/or allies.

-      Management of the main communication and fundraising techniques such as: e-mail, web, databases, and social networks.

-      Knowledge and proper handling of collection management, including targets for visits and outreach to individuals and companies.

-      Organised database management, for continuous follow-up of donor prospects and current donors

-      Donor profiling based on target groups for each type of campaign/project

-      Strategic communication: Ability to develop clear and persuasive proposals for donors, as well as to develop the marketing and communication strategy and oversee the material and artwork through to the final stage.

-      Excellent interpersonal skills, teamwork and leadership skills

-      Analytical skills: analysing financial and marketing data to guide decision-making.

-      Excellent communication skills.

-      Experience in managinghe human resource

 

Skills

-      Microsoft Word, Excel, Power Point and Outlook, Canva and Artificial Intelligence (AI) applications.

 

Type of employment and place of work

-      The recruitment of the Director of the DEC is for an indefinite periodAfter the first few months of the three-month trial period.

-      The place of work will be the ANCON offices where space and equipment will be provided.

Supervision and coordination

-      The supervision and coordination of this position will be carried out by on Executive Directoro.
